Leadership 101
My mission as a child of God on this earth is to make disciples of all nations. Matthew 28:19: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” This is the mission of all Jesus followers, regardless of tribe, nationality, color, race, and even religion. It’s amazing to realize that religion is man’s attempt to get closer to God. Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism. Wow! A quick search reveals that religions are subdivided into Eastern, Abrahamic, Iranian, Indigenous, New religious movements, Historical movements, and even further subdivided into geographic regions. One would think that once Jesus came and gave us the great commission in Mathew 28:19, that we would be all united into one religion. But who is man, even Christianity has further subdivisions, where then shall we get redemption? The answer is very simple, it’s in Jesus, we all need to be Jesus followers, and that is the only thing that matters, to follow Jesus and make disciples in every corner of the world.
Where do I fall in this great commission? What is my vision? I have already been given the great mission of my life; all I need is a vision. In the book Courageous Leadership by Bill Hybels, he does a great job in defining leadership and how I can ‘summon’, ‘hone’, and perfect the leader in me. He goes on to define that a leader needs to have a clear vision and have the highest integrity. But the biggest takeaway is that Leaders are at their best when developing other leaders. As I read the book, I felt that my mission is to lead and support young adults who, in most cases, would fall on the wayside and get lost in life. Nurturing these young adults and giving them hope in life would greatly influence generations to come. John C Maxwell goes further and breaks down how to become an influential leader. This book really gave me the inspiration to work hard and develop my leadership skills. I have never been mentored in my life, so this would be a great chance to find a great mentor to mentor me. Also, in this regard, I mentor others by lending and giving what I have learnt in the past, in my successes and failures, to mentor and teach the young adults.
As I focus on the next month, my task is to work on my vision plan, pray fervently about my vision. To really know what God has put in my heart. Really believe that God has sent me destiny helpers, and my mission would be to go out in faith and be a part of God’s kingdom. As I conclude, I am further inspired by this; I have the power to change the world, I have the power to make disciples, I have the power to change my circumstances, and this is the same power that raised Jesus. Wow! I should not go to the grave without having realized that vision and dream.
